Why is fire important? How long has it been a part of Iowa’s ecosystem? Come learn how and why fire is used to aid in natural areas stewardship. Enjoy a snack and stay after the program to explore the park and socialize. Cost for this event is $5.00 per person for children ages 3 and over and covers your park entry fee. Accompanying adults and children under 3 are free -- children under 3 do not need a reservation.  Please meet at the Loess Hills Lodge Bluestem Room at 10 a.m.  These programs are delivered in a small-group, mostly outdoor guided format and are designed for elementary students in kindergarten through early high school. PLEASE NOTE:  Students 10 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult. An option for unaccompanied students age 11 and older will be offered. Please help us plan age-appropriate curriculum by completing the birthdate information when registering. For questions not answered online please call 712-545-3283.
