Join us Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. for the first hike of our 2023 Hitch Hike series! This is a special guided hike through a section of the Loess Hills that was acquired by Pottawattamie Conservation in November 2022 in memory of long-time Honey Creek resident and conservation advocate, Doris Ferguson. Your journey will begin with a walk along a Loess Hills ridge top through the scenic prairie to reach the McIntosh Pioneer Cemetery, founded in 1874. Along the way, you'll learn more about the plants, animals, and history of the prairie and enjoy the spring wildflowers including blue-eyed grass, puccoons, and locoweed. Pre-registration is not required for this event, although free-will donations will be gratefully accepted and used to fund additional free and low-cost public programming at your county parks. Free with $5/vehicle park entry or a park membership. Weather permitting. Please meet us at the Loess Hills Lodge. Well-behaved dogs only, please.
